창덕궁 (Changdeokgung) is one of the palaces in Seoul I have visited the most frequently. What makes Changdeokgung special from other palaces in Seoul is that it has the Secret Garden behind official buildings. The access to the Secret Garden was exclusively allowed only to Chosen Kings and his royal family, which is now open to the public though. The Secret Garden is carefully designed according to the topographical feature of the site minimising any artificial change of the landscape and placing buildings in harmony within nature. The pathway and hill of the garden serve as a backdrop gradually revealing the pavilions of the Secret Garden as the perspective of viewers is changing along the path. The Secret Garden has fascinated me whenever I have visited because the scenery and impression of the garden is consistently changing according to a season. For this time, I visited Changdeokgung on a snowy date with an intention to see its snowscape. Snow fell heavily but the palace was absolutely stunning dressed in snow. It was definitely worth to visit. The beautiful images of the Secret Garden I captured are shown below.
While I am in Korea, I am going to share a beautiful sceneries of Korea. Follow my Instagram or Facebook Page to keep updated.
